Gio Gonzalez May Opt Out Of Contract
6 years agoThere is increasing sense that New York Yankees starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez will opt out of his contract on Saturday, according to sources. The Yankees would have 48 hours to add him to the big league roster. If they don't he'll become a free agent. There is less of a need for Gonzalez in New York now that CC Sabathia is back in the rotation and with Domingo German pitching well. The left-hander has also allowed 19 hits and 10 earned runs while walking six and fanning 19 in 15 innings over three starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. There's a chance he could latch on with another team if he moves on from the Yankees.
