Giants, Logan Webb Agree To Five-Year Extension
2 years agoThe San Francisco Giants and starting pitcher Logan Webb agreed to a five-year, $90 million contract extension on Friday. Webb has gotten off to a rough start in 2023, but he's still deserving of this big extension after being one of the best pitchers in baseball the last few years. He went 15-9 in 2022 with a career-low 2.90 ERA (3.03 FIP), 1.16 WHIP and 20.7 percent strikeout rate in 32 starts covering a career-high 192 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old is the Giants unquestioned ace this year, although he's allowed 12 runs (nine earned) on 18 hits (four home runs allowed) so far in 17 innings over three starts. Webb has walked only three and struck out 22, though, so he should bounce back sooner than later if he can avoid the long ball.
