Gerrit Cole Not Short On Suitors
5 years agoThe Yankees, Angels, Rangers and Phillies are among the teams that have already shown interest in starting pitcher Gerrit Cole. The Nationals could be interested in him if they can't re-sign Stephen Strasburg, while the Astros haven't given up either. Cole is certain to set a record for a starter in free agency after leading baseball in strikeouts with 326 in 212 1/3 innings (33 starts) and finishing second to teammate Justin Verlander in the American League Cy Young. The 29-year-old right-handed fireballer has an elite strikeout rate and is one of, if not the best, starters in all of baseball. No matter where he's playing in 2020, he'll be one of the top pitchers off the draft board.
