Gerrit Cole Allows Five Homers Versus Twins
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole wasn't at his best on Thursday, as he allowed seven runs over 2 2/3 innings during the club's 10-7 win over the Twins. His day started off on a miserable note by allowing home runs to the first three batters he faced, as five of his eight hits allowed in the game left the ballpark. The Yankees offense was able to bail him out to give him a no-decision and keep his record at 5-1, but he saw his ERA climb nearly a full run from 2.78 to 3.63 on the year. Chalk it up as an off day for the 31-year-old, who will look to bounce back against the division-rival Rays next week at home.
