German Marquez Beats Giants
5 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez went five innings in San Francisco to pick up his eighth win of the season on Wednesday. It wasn't his sharpest outing, allowing two earned runs and nine baserunners, but his offense picked him up against a bad Giants squad and saw him through. Marquez only struck out two in the victory. Marquez has been shaky recently, but he's snuck a couple good outings into there as well. Last week's effort against the Dodgers was an excellent one, so hopefully it's more of a sign of things to come. Unfortunately, he's headed back to Coors for a homestand, and his ERA sits 2.64 points higher at home than on the road. With a home date against the Astros on the schedule for next week, it would be a good time to let Marquez ride the bench.
