Geraldo Perdomo Undergoes Surgery
8 months agoArizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (knee) had surgery on Monday to fix a torn meniscus in his right knee after being placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. Manager Torey Lovullo said the surgery went well. Perdomo is "bummed" and hopes to be back next month. The D-backs brought up infielder Kevin Newman from Triple-A Reno, but Blaze Alexander is expected to see most of the playing time at the 6 in Perdomo's absence, with Jace Peterson also an option at the position. In six games at Reno, Newman hit .364/.407/.636 with a home run and seven RBI. The 24-year-old Perdomo injured his knee on April 3 while rounding the bases in extra innings and is expected to miss at least a month of action.
