George Springer Goes Hitless In Debut
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (quadriceps), who was making his team debut as the designated hitter in the leadoff spot against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, went 0-for-4 in the 8-2 loss. Springer signed a team-record $150 million, six-year deal with Toronto in the offseason but missed time in spring training with a strained oblique and a right quad strain. Manager Charlie Montoyo said that Springer will see a lot of time at DH "just to keep him away from running every day." It wasn't the debut that Springer's fantasy managers wanted to see, but he should remain in all starting lineups each day that he's in the lineup. Keeping him in the DH spot should keep his quad injury from cropping back up.
