Geno Smith, Seahawks Continue To Have "Good Talks"

The Seahawks and quarterback Geno Smith continue to work on a potential new contract, with the signal-caller indicating in recent weeks that things were looking promising. At the same time, team general manager John Schneider affirmed the veteran's comment, stating that both sides have had "good talks so far." However, Schneider also acknowledged that there is still plenty of time to work out the particulars, meaning it could be a while before Smith puts pen to paper. The 32-year-old is coming off the best season of his career, finishing with 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions off 69.8% passing while also being named the league's Comeback Player of the Year. Although Smith will likely draw the most fantasy interest by staying put, the departures of quarterbacks coach Dave Canales and assistant wide receivers coach Brad Idzik to the Buccaneers is something to consider heading into the 2023-24 campaign.
