Garrett Crochet Masterful on Friday
Garrett Crochet put on a clinic in a 2-1 win over the New York Yankees on Friday. Crochet fired 8 1/3 innings of one-run, four-hit ball with seven strikeouts and one walk before exiting a 1-1 game. The 25-year-old left-hander was just two outs away from the first complete game of his career, but Yankees slugger Aaron Judge dashed his hopes with a solo home run in the top of the ninth. The Red Sox then pulled Crochet, who logged 107 pitches on the night. While Crochet's start didn't end the way he wanted it to, it was another great outing in a season full of standout performances. He now owns a sparkling 2.24 ERA with 117 strikeouts and 28 walks over 96 1/3 frames. Crochet will return to the mound on Wednesday in Seattle.
