Freddie Freeman Wins NL MVP
4 years agoAtlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman won the National League MVP award on Thursday. Freeman received 28 of the 30 first-place ballots. Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts finished second and Padres third baseman Manny Machado came in third. The 31-year-old tested positive for COVID-19 three weeks before the delayed Opening Day in late July and had 104.5 degree fever. Freeman got off to a slow start, but he finished the year hitting .341 with 13 home runs and 53 RBI in all 60 games. He led the majors with 23 doubles and 51 runs scored. He became the sixth different player in Braves history to win the MVP. A lefty hitter that can hit with power to all fields, Freeman is an elite fantasy first baseman.
