2 years agoThe Kansas City Royals designated outfielder Franmil Reyes for assignment on Monday to make room for right-hander James McArthur on the 40-man roster. The Royals acquired McArthur from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for minor-league outfielder Junior Marin and cash considerations. Reyes was optioned to Triple-A Omaha last week after a rough start to the 2023 season. The 27-year-old right-handed power hitter went just 11-for-59 (.186) with two home runs, seven RBI, four walks and 24 strikeouts in 65 plate appearances and 19 games before the Royals cut him. Reyes hit 30 homers as recently as 2021 with the Cleveland Guardians, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to make it back to the big leagues at this point.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
