Franmil Reyes 2020 Outlook: Power At Its Purest
5 years agoCleveland Indians outfielder Franmil Reyes was projected to be a popular sleeper candidate ahead of the 2019 season due to his tremendous power potential. He came through as many expected with 37 home runs and 81 RBI, splitting time between the Padres and Indians. The move to a new team cleared up playing time issues but the Tribe now finds themselves with a glut of outfielders as well. If Reyes moves to a DH role full-time while retaining OF eligibility in fantasy leagues, that would be the best case scenario.
With a full diet of at-bats, Reyes has the potential to deliver upwards of 40 homers. He posted a 14.8% Barrel rate and exceptional 51% Hard Hit rate. The tradeoff comes elsewhere though, as his .255 average with San Diego fell to .237 with Cleveland. If you tab Reyes for your squad, it's for his massive power and nothing else. He belongs as an OF3 in typical 12-team leagues and is being drafted as such early on, falling just inside the top 150 overall players on draft day.
