Francisco Cervelli Has Upper Chest Contusion
6 years agoUpdating a previous report, Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli (chest) left the game early on Tuesday as a precaution with an upper chest contusion. Consider Cervelli day-to-day for now. The struggling backstop was benched in the four-game series against the Padres last weekend. He had a single in his two plate appearances on Tuesday and is hitting a weak .185/.273/.241 with only one home run and five RBI on the season. Cervelli has been fantasy relevant in the past but will likely continue to lose playing time to Elias Diaz if he doesn't pick it up. This injury won't help matters.
