Francisco Alvarez Behind The Dish Thursday
2 years agoNew York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez is doing the catching and is hitting ninth in the batting order on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Derek Law. It's the fifth start in a row for the young catcher, and he's also starting in a day game after a night game. The 21-year-old has started to pick it up of late with his bat and is now hitting .228 (13-for-57) with two doubles, three home runs and six RBI in 20 games played. Since the calendar flipped to May, Alvarez has gone 6-for-21 (.286) with two doubles, two home runs and four RBI in eight games. He doesn't have a ton of DFS appeal in the nine-hole on Thursday, but it's a good matchup and he's been swinging the bat much better.
