Framber Valdez To Start Game 2 Of World Series
2 years agoHouston Astros left-hander Framber Valdez will start Game 2 of the World Series in Houston on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The one-two punch of Justin Verlander and Valdez has been dominant all year. Valdez finished the regular season 17-6 with a 2.82 ERA (3.06 FIP), a 1.16 WHIP, a career-high 194 strikeouts and 67 walks in 201 1/3 innings over 31 starts as a first-time All-Star. He's been even better in two playoff starts against the Mariners and Yankees, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits while walking three and striking out 15 in 12 2/3 innings to pick up one win. The 28-year-old Dominican southpaw threw five shutout innings with one walk and 10 strikeouts in a win against the Phillies in his only start against them in 2022, which came on Oct. 5.
