Framber Valdez Allows One Run In Seven Innings

In his first start of the season, Houston Astros pitcher Framber Valdez went seven innings and allowed five hits and one earned run while strikeout out seven and walking none. It was a favorable home matchup against the Orioles, but Valdez likely did enough to hold down a spot in the rotation for now. Valdez had made 14 relief appearances before Saturday's start and had a strikeout rate of just 18.9%. His ERA on the season is now 2.73, but he'll need to improve his strikeout rate, like he did on Saturday, in order to increase his fantasy value. He is currently slated to make his next start in another favorable home matchup against the Blue Jays on Saturday. He's a great add in most leagues because of the upcoming Blue Jays matchup and the win potential he has with the Astros' offense supporting him.
