Fernando Tatis Jr. Hitting Third Against KC
2 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. is hitting third in the batting order on Wednesday and playing right field against right-hander Carlos Hernandez and the Kansas City Royals with third baseman Manny Machado (hand) missing his second straight game. Tatis will be moving from his normal leadoff spot into the heart of the batting order to try and help replace Machado, who had been slumping before his injury on Monday. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts will replace Tatis at the top of the order Wednesday. Tatis has been one of San Diego's best hitters all year to this point, as he's slashing .287/.327/.485 with five doubles, five home runs, 12 RBI, three steals and 14 runs scored in 23 games. Expect him to move back to leadoff once Machado returns.
