Falcons Cut Barkevious Mingo After Arrest
3 years agoThe Atlanta Falcons released linebacker Barkevious Mingo on Saturday after he was arrested in Texas on a charge of indecency with a child-sexual contact. The second-degree felony charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison under Texas state law. Police said that Mingo turned himself in. However, Mingo's attorney, Lukas Garcia, called the allegations "completely baseless." Mingo signed a one-year contract with the Falcons in March. The first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2013 has played for five different teams in the last five seasons, including the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears. The 30-year-old had 35 tackles (23 solo), five QB hits and 2.5 sacks in 16 games (three starts) for the Bears in 2020.
