Evan White Opting For Season-Ending Surgery
3 years agoSeattle Mariners first baseman Evan White (hip) will undergo season-ending surgery (perhaps labral) on his hip. This had been a possibility for a while now, and now it's official. White wound up playing in only 30 games this year and hit just .144/.202/.237 with two home runs and nine RBI in 104 plate appearances. He also struggled in the shortened 2020 season, going 32-for-182 (.176) with a .252 on-base percentage and .346 slugging percentage along with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 202 plate appearances. The 25-year-old wasn't relevant outside of AL-only leagues to begin with, so he can officially be dropped in those formats in single-year setups. Ty France should continue to start regularly at first base while hitting in the heart of the M's batting order.
