Vancouver Canucks defenseman Ethan Bear will be out for six months after having shoulder surgery. The 25-year-old needed to get the procedure done after getting hurt at the 2023 IIHF World Championship. The injury means that Bear will miss a large chunk of next season. Bear is a restricted free agent this offseason after finishing a one-year, $2.2 million contract he signed with Carolina last summer. Bear ended up being a healthy scratch for the Hurricanes at the start of the season and moved to Vancouver in late October. He had a decent campaign on a struggling team, posting 16 points with 82 blocks and a plus-six rating in 61 games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
