3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers rookie running back Elijah Mitchell (rib) is dealing with a rib issue and will be limited in practice on Wednesday to begin the week. It doesn't sound very serious, but it's something to watch heading into a Week 9 showdown with the division-rival Arizona Cardinals. The 23-year-old had 18 carries for the second straight week and also topped 100 yards for the second straight week with a season-high 137 yards and his third rushing score in his first five games. Mitchell has had at least 17 carries in four of his five games, and he's clearly the team's primary back, even with JaMycal Hasty back. Jeff Wilson Jr. (knee) could return soon and complicate things, but until that happens, the sixth-round rookie should remain a firm RB2.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
