Eduardo Rodriguez Will Return As Starter
6 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora made it clear that starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez (ankle) will return as a starter when he comes off the disabled list. He threw a four-inning simulated game on Wednesday, and his next step will be a rehab assignment with Double-A Portland on Monday. If Rodriguez throws 75 to 80 pitches, he'll likely be just one rehab start away from rejoining the rotation at the end of August. Before his injury, E-Rod had 17 scoreless innings over three starts and have allowed 10 hits and four walks while striking out 16 over that time. He should be owned in all leagues in anticipation for his return. Brian Johnson, although he's been pitching well, will likely be bumped from the rotation when Rodriguez returns.
