Edmundo Sosa Could Be On Phillies Playoff Roster
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Edmundo Sosa (hamstring) is headed to meet the team at Busch Stadium in St. Louis for the team's National League Wild-Card Series this weekend against the Cardinals for a possible return from his hamstring injury. After being traded from the Cardinals to the Phillies this year, Sosa hit .315/.345/.593 with a .937 OPS, two home runs, 13 RBI, nine runs scored and three stolen bases in his 25 games with the Phillies. The 26-year-old's season was in jeopardy when he suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain in mid-September, but there's a chance he could serve as a bench player for the Phillies in St. Louis this weekend if he checks out fine. Sosa has mostly been a defense-first player, but he has impressed with his bat in his short time in Philly.
