Edgar Montero Launches Two Home Runs on Thursday
Athletics infield prospect Edgar Montero went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI, two walks, and a stolen base during their contest against Cincinnati's Dominican Summer League affiliate. Montero has been swinging a hot bat in the rookie league and is making a push to join Low-A in the second half. Through 12 games this season, the 18-year-old has posted a .390/.509/.732 slash line with three doubles, one triple, three home runs, three stolen bases, and a 12:11 K:BB. Last season, Montero made his DSL debut and struggled as he held a modest .239/.398/.375 slash line with just nine doubles and three long balls across a 54-game stint. While Montero is not currently ranked within the top 30 of the Athletics system on MLB.com, he could find his way to Low-A in the second half.
