Eddie Rosario Non-Tendered
4 years agoThe Minnesota Twins non-tendered outfielder Eddie Rosario on Wednesday after he had been their regular left fielder for the last six years. The team reached one-year deals with five of their arbitration-eligible players: right-hander Jose Berrios ($5.6 million salary), center fielder Byron Buxton ($5.125 million), reliever Tyler Duffey ($2.2 million), catcher Mitch Garver ($1.875 million) and reliever Caleb Thielbar ($650,000). Rosario cleared waivers earlier this week, but the team remains open to re-signing him at a lower cost. The 29-year-old hit .257 with 13 home runs and 42 RBI with a .792 OPS in 57 games last year, but the Twins need to make room for top outfield prospects Alex Kirilloff, Brent Rooker and Trevor Larnach. Rosario was the team's MVP in 2018 when he hit 32 home runs, but he has a career on-base percentage of just .310.
