The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Tuesday that they have released center Nick Gates (groin). In his lone season with the Eagles in 2024, Gates played in only nine games (one start) and finished the year on Injured Reserve due to a groin injury. The 29-year-old former undrafted free agent out of Nebraska was a reserve offensive lineman for the Eagles when healthy. Gates made his NFL debut in 2019 with the New York Giants and spent the first four years of his NFL career with the G-Men before joining the Washington Commanders in 2023. He'll get a head start on free agency this offseason but will need to prove he's past his groin injury before anyone will take a chance on him as offensive-line depth.--Keith Hernandez
