Dwayne Haskins Jr. Released
4 years agoThe Washington Football Team released quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. on Monday. The rough week for Haskins continued on Monday. It comes after he was benched in favor of Taylor Heinicke in the Week 16 loss to the Panthers in which he went 14-for-28 for 154 yards, two interceptions and a lost fumble. The former 15th overall pick in the 2019 draft was also fined and lost his captainship last week when he violated COVID-19 protocols while at a gentleman's club. The 23-year-old began the 2020 season as the starter before being benched for Kyle Allen, who eventually suffered a season-ending injury that led to Alex Smith making a miraculous return from a gruesome broken leg that he suffered a few years ago. Haskins will be hoping to latch on with another team and prove that his first-round pedigree wasn't a complete waste. Heinicke will start in Week 17 against the Eagles if Smith cannot go.
