2 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Drew Gilbert, the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, has been promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi, according to a source. Gilbert slashed an impressive .361/.421/.686 with eight doubles, a triple, six home runs, 18 RBI, four stolen bases and 21 runs scored in 21 games for High-A Asheville to early the promotion. The 22-year-old will now see how he fares against better pitching at the Double-A level. The left-handed hitter is extremely aggressive at the plate, but his elite hand-eye coordination allows him to make consistent hard contact. He also has solid speed on the basepaths and should develop into at least a 15-20-homer outfielder at the big-league level in a few years.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
