Donte Moncrief 2018 Outlook: Potential… To Disappoint
6 years agoWith the Allen brothers (Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns) no longer in Jacksonville, being a receiver on this Jags team could seem like an opportunity primed for flourishing. The Jags’ two leading receivers from a season ago, Keelan Cole and Marqise Lee, are still around as is Dede Westbrook. Jacksonville also spent a second-round draft pick on LSU’s D.J. Chark. Oh, and lest we forget that Leonard Fournette dude in the backfield toting the rock - his 268 rushing attempts ranked 7th in 2017. In other words, unless the NFL employs some form of a 2-QB league, there probably aren't going to be enough touches for Moncrief to produce fantasy worthy numbers barring injury of course. Bad news for anyone thinking the change in uniform would result in a positive change in production for Moncrief, whose best season came in 2015 with Andrew Luck (and Matt Hasselbeck) on the other end of his passes; 733 yards, and six TDs for a Colts team which ranked 9th with 619 pass attempts. Blake Bortles is not Andrew Luck, and this Jags team is not nearly as receiver friendly as Moncrief’s Colts teams have been, so expecting anything more than the lackluster numbers we’ve seen could get you checked in to the nearest mental facility. He may be worth a few spot starts in the deepest of leagues, or a HR swing in DFS, but 500 yards and about 3 TDs, seems like a very generous ceiling.
