DJ LeMahieu Remains Likely To Stay In Bronx
4 years agoThe New York Mets have checked in with free-agent second baseman DJ LeMahieu after the suspension of Robinson Cano, but the New York Yankees' high interest level still makes it very likely that they re-sign LeMahieu. "I'd say there's an 80% or higher chance that DJ LeMahieu is going to be a New York Yankee," said the YES Network's Meredith Marakovits. The only way LeMahieu would sign with the Mets is if they make him an offer that "absolutely blows him away." New Mets owner Steve Cohen has the financial assets to do that, but it would also hinder their ability to land another big free agent this winter. The Yankees top priority is to bring the All-Star second baseman back, and they usually get deals done with their top priorities. LeMahieu should be the top fantasy second baseman off the board in drafts next year, regardless of whether he's playing for the Yanks or Mets.
