DJ LeMahieu On The Mend
4 years agoNew York Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu (thumb) is hoping to trim time from his estimated return date after spraining his left thumb during a swing that he called "a weird freak thing." LeMahieu said he was told the sprain will take two to three weeks to heal. Through 17 games, he was hitting an American League-best .411 (30-for-73) with a double, triple, two homers and eight RBI, and his batting average still ranks second in the majors, trailing only Charlie Blackmon (.429). The Yankees said that LeMahieu's injury is similar to the one he sustained in May of 2018 with the Rockies when he missed around 2 1/2 weeks with a small fracture. The 32-year-old has risen to a new level with the Yankees and is a must-start in all fantasy lineups when he's on the field.
