Edmonton Oilers forwards Devin Shore (undisclosed) and Zack Kassian (head) won't be able to help the team in Wednesday's season opener against Vancouver. Shore picked up an injury in Tuesday's practice and Kassian has been nursing a head trauma since last Thursday's preseason outing. Both should be considered as day-to-day. Oilers head coach Dave Tippett has said that Kassian might return for Saturday's clash with the Flames. Shore could be in contention for the game as well. Ryan McLeod will replace Shore as the fourth-line center on Wednesday, and he'll be joined by Brendan Perlini and Kyle Turris.--Taavi Pailk
