Dereck Lively II Facing Multi-Week Absence
8 months agoDallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II (knee) will sit out a second consecutive game on Thursday versus Atlanta and might be done for the rest of the regular season. Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has said Lively II could be out for two weeks with a right knee sprain. The 20-year-old out of Duke has had a solid rookie campaign, averaging 8.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 23.5 minutes. Lively II has logged 42 starts across 55 games. Daniel Gafford has taken over as the starting center and will be relied on even more during Lively II's absence. The 25-year-old has recorded 11.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks in a starting role this season.
