9 months agoOakland Athletics outfield prospect Denzel Clarke went 1-for-4 with a season-high three stolen bases on Wednesday evening. His single extended his current hitting streak to eight games. His three swiped bags increased his total to 12. Overall, through 67 games through his second look at Double-A ball, the 24 -year-old has posted a .253/.305/.466 line with 11 home runs. Last summer, in a similar 64-game sample size, he held an almost identical .261/.381/.496 line. Since making his Single-A debut in 2022, Clarke has progressed through the minor league system fairly quickly and could join the top level of the minors later this summer if he continues this steady play.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

9 months agoOakland Athletics outfield prospect Denzel Clarke went 4-for-6 with a single, double, triple, and a round-tripper to complete the cycle. This performance extended his current hitting streak to four games. In this span, he has launched two home runs, two doubles, a triple, and four RBI. Prior to this stretch, Clarke tallied just two hits in five games. Overall, through his second season at Double-A Midland, the former fourth-round selection has posted a .243/.292/.455 line with 10 home runs and 36 RBI in 63 RBI. Last season, in a similar 64-game sample size, the 24-year-old held a .261/.381/.496 line with 12 home runs and 33 RBI. Clarke is ranked as the third base prospect in the Oakland system on MLB Pipeline and should be on his way to Triple-A in the coming weeks.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

9 months agoOakland Athletics outfield prospect Denzel Clarke had a day to remember for Double-A Midland on Sunday. Clarke went 3-for-3 on the day with a single and pair of solo homers to help lead to the RockHounds 40th victory of the season. Clarke, 24, has now hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games after a slow start to the season. For the season, the Canadian is now hitting .237 with eight homers, 28 RBI and eight stolen bases in 54 games. Per MLB Pipeline, Clarke is the Athletics No. 3 prospect and offers plenty of athleticism and has extreme power when he makes contact, but still needs to work on his attack of the plate. Given the A's are in a full rebuild, Clarke could get a chance with the club this season. He remains best served in dynasty leagues moving forward, but like most prospects, he would be worth a look in redraft leagues given his name is eventually called.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

10 months agoOakland Athletics outfield prospect Denzel Clarke posted his first three-hit game of the season on Wednesday, where he went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, and one RBI. This performance snapped a three-game hitless streak. Through 44 games with Double-A Midland this season, Clarke has struggled with a .201/.267/.348 line, just four long balls, and 19 RBI. Last season, in 64 games at this level, he held a much better .261/.381/.496 line with 12 home runs and 43 RBI. However, Since May 19, the 24-year-old has been riding a much-improved .244 AVG, which is a good sign going forward. He should continue to be monitored by dynasty managers and could become an interesting stash once he reaches Triple-A.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
