David Ragan Guaranteed A Spot In The 2024 Daytona 500
10 months agoHeading into Thursday night's qualifying session for this year's Daytona 500, David Ragan was not guaranteed a spot in The Great American Race, as he was one of the "Open" drivers who either needed to get in on speed during qualifying (the top two locked themselves in) or race his way in during his Duel race on Thursday. He was confident in the speed of the race car, though, stating, "We feel like we've got enough speed with our Dark Horse Ford Mustang that we'll be in really good shape to be one of those top couple of cars that are locked in on speed." Ragan ended up being correct, as the No. 60 Ford from Roush-Fenway Keselowski Racing was fast enough on Thursday night, as Ragan locked himself into the big race on Sunday with his speed. Ragan is a previous Daytona winner--he won the fall race at the track in 2011--and will be racing in a points-paying Cup Series event for the first time since 2022 this Sunday. He has notched eight top-10 finishes in 30 career attempts at Daytona.
