David Peterson Close To Getting Back On A Mound
3 years agoNew York Mets left-hander David Peterson (oblique) is close to getting back on a mound as he recovers from a severe right oblique strain that he suffered near the end of June. It's good progress, but Peterson is still at least several weeks away from a return to the Mets. Given how decimated New York's rotation is at the moment, Peterson could return and jump back into a starting role despite his 5.54 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 69/29 K/BB in 66 2/3 innings spanning 15 starts. However, Carlos Carrasco should be making his team debut soon, and the Mets are hoping that Jacob deGrom isn't out for that long. The Mets could also be aggressive at the trade deadline and add another starting arm. Even if Peterson rejoins the rotation, he'll be a shaky streaming option in deeper leagues.
