David Peralta Agrees With Dodgers On Friday
2 years agoFree-agent outfielder David Peralta and the Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a one-year, $6.5 million deal on Friday, according to sources. Incentives can take the total of the deal up to $8 million. The 35-year-old left-handed hitter will join Trayce Thompson, Chris Taylor and others to likely see at-bats in left field for the Dodgers in 2023. He spent the 2022 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays and hit a combined .251/.316/.415 with a .731 OPS, 12 home runs, 59 RBI and 39 runs scored in 490 plate appearances over 134 games. Peralta really struggled against left-handed pitching in 2022, so he'll most likely be ticketed for a platoon role in LA's outfield. He'll be on the fringe of mixed-league relevance, but the lineup upgrade shouldn't be overlooked.
