7 months agoThe Oakland Athletics optioned starting pitcher Daniel Mengden to Triple-A Las Vegas. Beat writer Susan Slusser suggests that this move doesn't necessarily mean he is out of the running for a rotation spot, it just means that someone else will fill his roster spot for the Japan Series next week against the Seattle Mariners. The A's will not need a fourth or fifth starter until March 31-April 1. He has decent stuff and a pretty varied arsenal, and he is likely to be a big part of Oakland's rotation plans once the games start counting for real. However, his fantasy appeal remains limited to AL-only leagues at this point.--Daniel E. Dobish - RotoBaller
