Daniel Descalso Still Not Ready For Full Game
Daniel Descalso (ankle) is still a few days from being ready to play a full nine innings, according to president Theo Epstein. It's the reason why the team called up Addison Russell to play the keystone on Wednesday with Ben Zobrist (personal) away from the team. Descalso, 32, doesn't have a whole lot of upside with the bat and is more of a super-utility player, but he often comes through in the clutch and is a good clubhouse guy. He's hitting .250 (21-for-84) with two homers and 11 RBI on the season. Expect him to platoon with Russell at second base moving forward.
