Dalton Schultz 2021 Outlook: TE1 On Reserve
4 years agoDalton Schultz was a revelation for the Dallas Cowboys last year filling in for an injured Blake Jarwin. He finished as the TE10 on the season despite not starting until Week 2 and catching passes from Ben DiNucci, Garrett Gilbert, and Andy Dalton for most of the season. Schultz averaged four receptions for 40 yards and 9.76 PPR points per game (TE14) as a starter and was one of the more consistent tight end options in the back-end TE1 cesspool. However, Jarwin's injury occurred in Week 1 which means he will be a full-go for the start of the season, and he signed a four-year, $22 million contract last offseason that essentially guarantees his starter role. Schultz will still see snaps and targets, but his piece of the pie will be so small that drafters do not need to waste a draft pick on him in redraft leagues. Nevertheless, if something were to happen to Jarwin, Schultz will immediately step into the starting tight end role.
