Dallas Cowboys safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was released Thursday, with the team saving payroll by not having him on its Week 1 roster. The move comes with curious timing as the Cowboys and veteran safety Earl Thomas have been linked to one another for years, with Thomas remaining a free agent with just over a week until the start of the 2020 season. Clinton-Dix, who has started all 16 regular-season games each of the past five seasons, is likely to land on his feet, although he’ll have a tough path to a starting gig elsewhere after being released so close to the start of the year. By releasing Clinton-Dix, Dallas all but confirms that Xavier Woods should be back and ready to play by Week 1 against the Rams. The Cowboys’ defense is still a reasonable season-long fantasy asset in the wake of the move.--Jesse BorekRead More News
