D-Backs Take A.J. Vukovich Among Their Final Day 2 Picks
5 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks selected Green Hope High School left-handed pitcher Liam Norris with the 90th overall pick in the third round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. The Snakes then selected East Troy High School third baseman A.J. Vukovich in the fourth round and Bellarmine University pitcher Brandon Pfaadt in the fifth round. Norris has a powerful 6-foot-4 frame and has a fastball that sits at 90-94 mph and two plus offerings in his curve and slider. A North Carolina commit, the lefty needs to show better command if he goes pro. Vukovich has projectable strength and pop in his 6-foot-5 frame. There's above-average power here for an 18-year-old, but a long swing is a concern. Scouts aren't sold he'll be able to stick at the hot corner because he lacks quickness. Pfaadt showcases a mid-90s sinker and a plus curveball, but he has had trouble maintaining his stuff throughout his outings, which could make him a reliever in pro ball.
