To say that Connor Hellebuyck had a monstrous game one against the Nashville Predators Friday night would be an understatement. Hellebuyck followed up his back-to-back shutout performances against the Minnesota Wild with an inspired 47 save performance against the Nashville predators in Nashville as the Jets took game one of the Western Conference semifinal 4-1. Kevin Fiala of the Nashville Predators was able to beat Hellebuyck early into the third period but by that point, the Jet’s had already scored three. In a clash of the leagues two best regular season teams, Hellebuyck outdueled his fellow Vezina trophy nominee Pekka Rinne & it wasn’t even close. Rinne ended up getting pulled after giving up three goals on 16 shots. The Winnipeg Jets goaltender legitimately stole game one for the Jets as they were heavily outshot through the course of the game (18-48). Connor Hellebuyck has been lights out during the playoffs as evident by his sparkling 5-1 record & he has most certainly made a strong case for the Vezina so far.--Amir Salehnia
