Colin Moran Resumes Swinging A Bat
3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman Colin Moran (hand) has resumed swinging a bat after being put on the injured list at the beginning of July with a small fracture in his left hand. Moran was hitting well and playing regularly at first base before his injury with a slash line of .280/.345/.414 with four home runs, 11 runs scored and 23 RBI in 49 games for the Pirates, so he at least figures to play in a part-time role when he returns from his injury, likely some time in August. John Nogowski has taken the first base job and run with it since Moran has gone down. The 28-year-old is hitting .438/.491/.583 with a homer and 10 RBI in 48 at-bats since he joined the team on July 5. Nogowski will cool off at some point and isn't much of a power guy, but he deserves consideration in deep mixed leagues as long as he's hot and playing regularly.
