Cole Hamels Dealing With Triceps Tendinitis
4 years agoAtlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker said that starting pitcher Cole Hamels (triceps) scrapped his planned side session on Saturday because he had some triceps tendinitis. "I think we're probably a week away from seeing where he's going to be," Snitker said. Hamels missed spring training earlier this year because of a left shoulder strain, so this isn't what you want to see from an aging 36-year-old pitcher entering the season. At this point, we'd be surprised if he were ready for Opening Day on July 24. The southpaw can still provide decent strikeout numbers and is in a good situation in Atlanta, but the decline is real and his arrow is firmly pointing down right now. We wouldn't blame you if you're staying away in mixed leagues.
