Clayton Kershaw Plans To Pitch Beyond 2021
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who is entering the final season of his three-year, $93 million deal in 2021, made it clear that he plans to pitch again in 2022. "I have no intentions of hanging them up," Kershaw said Sunday. "I'm only 32. I feel like I have a few more years left in the tank." The left-hander was the seventh overall pick by the Dodgers in 2006 and would love to remain with the organization for the remainder of his career. Kershaw threw his first bullpen session of the spring on Saturday and is coming off a 10-start season in which he had a great 2.16 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. His velocity ticked back up and he posted his best strikeout rate since 2017. But the future Hall of Famer comes with injury risk, especially heading into a full season. Entering his age-33 season, Kershaw is still a pretty safe top-12 fantasy starter.
