Clay Buchholz Could Join Rotation In April
6 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Clay Buchholz (elbow) will throw 60 pitches on Tuesday and then 75 in his next outing, which might come at Triple-A Buffalo. There's a chance that the veteran right-hander will join the starting rotation against the Rays in mid-April. The 34-year-old was a nice surprise for Arizona's rotation in 2018, going 7-2 with a 2.01 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 81 K's in 98 1/3 innings (16 starts) before his elbow gave out. He's unlikely to be that good again, especially in the tough American League East and hitter-friendly home park, but Buchholz can be a matchup play in DFS and AL-only setups.
