Chris Taylor Activated And Starting Friday
Chris Taylor (foot) was reinstated from the injured list on Friday and will start at second base and hit fifth in the batting order against San Diego Padres left-hander Sean Manaea. Taylor was out for a month with a fractured foot, but he'll return on Friday night for the start of a big series against the division-rival Padres in Los Angeles. This will be the 31-year-old's first start of the year on the infield, and he could see more time at second base moving forward to protect his foot. On the year, he's hitting .238/.319/.409 with six home runs, 27 RBI, 32 runs scored and six stolen bases in 252 at-bats. Gavin Lux has been playing second base mostly, but his bat should remain in the lineup regularly despite Taylor's return, as he's hitting .298 on the season in 309 at-bats.
