Chris Herndon IV 2020 Outlook: Breakout Candidate
5 years agoNew York Jets tight end Chris Herndon was poised for a breakout season in 2019, but that breakout never materialized because he was suspended for four games. Herndon returned to the team after his suspension out of shape. As a result, he injured his hamstring, which delayed his return even further before he ultimately ending up on injured reserve with broken ribs. Ryan Griffin had 34 catches for 320 yards and five touchdowns in Herndon's absence last year, but he doesn't bring the same athleticism and pass-catching ability to the table as Herndon. Herdon's ADP is sitting at 182 right now, which makes him a 15th round pick, and he is currently being drafted as the 23rd tight end off the board. If you miss out on the top tight ends in your fantasy draft this year, taking Herndon with one of your last picks could prove to be a wise decision. Irv Smith Jr., Jace Sternberger, and Dawson Knox are other breakout candidates being drafted about the same time Herndon is coming off the board.
