Chris Godwin Unlikely To Land Long-Term Extension
3 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin, who received the franchise tag, is unlikely to receive a long-term deal from the team before the deadline next week. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that there is "nothing imminent on that front" for Godwin. Even if the Bucs don't extend Godwin before next week, general manager Jason Licht could approach him with a long-term deal before he becomes a free agent next March. Godwin would be due $15.983 million in 2021 if he plays on the franchise tag. The targets will be there for the 25-year-old, but he should be considered more of a WR2 in this loaded offense. Injuries have also been a concern, but when he's been on the field, he has produced for fantasy managers.
